On this government line that Nus Ghani did not pursue a 'formal complaints process': To be clear, that process is an internal one run by CCHQ - not in any way independent She already says she was told she would be 'ostracised' if she kept bringing it up & her career 'destroyed'

We have every reason to believe past inquiries into Johnson's unlawful conduct have been thwarted by the destruction of evidence. Unsurprising it should happen again. But extraordinary that the Met should stand by whilst it does. independent.co.uk/news/uk/po…

Former Tory MP Heidi Allen tells me on @TimesRadio she was "bullied" by a Conservative whip... and that he is now a "senior minister in government". But refuses to name him.

Tory Michael Fabricant on LBC rubbishes claims Nus Ghani was sacked for her faith, because: “She’s hardly someone who’s obviously Muslim” “[Her muslimness] wasn’t apparent, seems a lame excuse she was sacked because of that”

I can't speak for @Nus_Ghani but there's loads of reasons ppl don't take complaints forward, lack of trust in the process, working alongside the same ppl you've complained against. If the Tories were as concerned as they say they were then you'd embark on an inquiry regardless.

Michael Fabricant has a history of anti-Muslim bigotry, and the fact he still retains the Conservative whip is testament to the problem of institutional Islamophobia within the party.

When I was reporting on Islamophobia in the Conservative Party a few years ago I was told by several hopeful Tory Muslim candidates that they were actively quizzed about their faith during the selection process and one was outright told being Muslim would likely be a problem.
