It's pretty mind-blowing. Politicians both good and bad will take note of episodes like these: some people really, really do listen to what you say; they take it very deeply to heart; and they act on it.
“I would like a pardon from the President of the United States.” Dallas area realtor Jenna Ryan is the 2nd D.C. riot participant to ask for one. She flew on a private jet to D.C. to “stop the steal.” FBI arrested her today. She says: I feel persecuted.

I'm afraid I just spoke sternly in a raised voice to a group of 15 people in their 20s, French I think, many smoking cigarettes, walking in a dense herd towards me and a small kid, we couldn't get into the road. Twitter is a bit hatey these days, I try to share sunshine. Sorry.

I immediately regret sharing that little negative nugget. Embrace the positive. Here is Vaccine Wellerman. Stay home, protect the NHS, protect everyone. You're all marvelous.

If you like technic Lego, or not, this video of a one googol ratio gear reduction is pleasingly stupid. invidio.us/QwXK4e4uqXY (Mixed bags of Technic Lego by the kilo on eBay, btw: what a massive joy, buy a motor and have some fun).

The FBI says Kevin Lyons was "evasive" at first about being inside the Capitol. Then, when agents showed him an Instagram pic he'd taken & posted of Nancy Pelosi's office, he caved. "Wow, you're pretty good," he said. "That was only up for an hour."

When you're running I love how, as you run into the road to avoid someone on the pavement, you get the "thanks for not being a dick" smile/nod back.

I think @ONS have been great during this pandemic. Talking with their folk about how at OpenSAFELY we do open code by default, curation-as-you-go, avoiding code dumps, light touch pragmatic standardisation, making open easy, etc. Lots to share, and lots to learn from them too.
One not to miss: an Integrated Data Platform event for @ONS feat Dr Ben Goldacre @bengoldacre. Ben will talk about having an open approach to research (including code-sharing) + a Q&A. Register now and you'll get the event link closer to the date: bit.ly/IDPBenGoldacreEvent 🖥️

A vivid, positive, energetic, warts-and-all view of the vaccine roll-out from one part of the system. Friends and colleagues on this, nationally and locally: you are marvellous. We all pay them back by following the rules: stop the spread, protect the NHS dailymail.co.uk/news/article…
