My son @RobertEllsberg has it right. He knows the story intimately, having lived through it. These are among the facts I would have told Janny Scott at the @nytimes had she asked me for comments before publishing her article.
“Now It Can Be Told” runs the headline on a breathless @nytimes story of how Neal Sheehan got the Pentagon Papers from my father @DanielEllsberg. Sheehan wanted to counter the usual (accurate) narrative that my father gave the papers to the Times. . . nytimes.com/2021/01/07/us/pe…

Thanks for sharing. Without history taught we are bound to commit the same mistakes. And when shared, it helps identify those responsible... yesterday and today. ✊🏽
My generation grew up with this lesson, one of the most exiting in the history of journalism
I saw you speak about Vietnam at the University of Manitoba, in Canada, perhaps in 1972 or 3. It was a packed house and you were an inspiration. Dick Gregory and Daniel Berrigan may also have been on the bill.

It’s pretty bad when they don’t ask the subject of the story for comment.

Stunning deceit by Sheehan as reporter violating integrity of @DanielEllsberg in stringing him along. No wonder he didn’t want his spin on truth let out. Shame on @nytimes not fact checking w/ Ellsberg 1st. Good news? Pentagon Papers on Lie of Vietnam published in public interest

Far away, over here in Scotland, my 80 year old Dad knows all about what you did. He found me an old copy of the Pentagon papers in a charity shop after I gave him your recent nuclear book (I also gave him Robert's daily saints book, which he loves). People know.

I am an FEDERAL EEO Investigator for the US EEOC's Los Angeles District Office. We are facing massive amounts of fraud, waste, and abuse. I would like to talk about how it affects Angelenos suffering from labor trafficking, harassment, discrimination, & whistle blower retaliation
