Monitoring wildlife isn't easy, and some species are quite tricky. Imagine trying to capture a powerful diving bird with a daggerlike bill...at night. But with skill...and luck, that's exactly what researchers did to monitor Common Loons. Find out how! nps.gov/articles/000/midnigh…

What's for dinner? A white-tailed deer's winter diet consists of a buffet of browse plants such as the twigs and branches of certain shrubs and trees. Along with fat reserves built up in the fall, this limited diet helps deer survive the long winter months.

The Apgar Mountain webcam caught a gorgeous view today! After being down last week due to an internet outage, most of the park's webcams are back up and running. Two Medicine and Many Glacier webcams are currently offline. nps.gov/glac/learn/photosmul…

Have you ever worn a uniform? No matter which NPS site you visit, you'll always see the Ranger uniform. Flat hats and pleated pants, enduring traditions brought to life each day—although sometimes "tradition" doesn't keep up with the latest breathable fabrics. #NPSFW

The previous photo was likely taken in the early 1940s by photographer John Kabel as a promotional image commissioned by the Great Northern Railway. We don’t know who these people were, but they clearly knew how to travel in style.

These days, those who take the same boat tour on Swiftcurrent Lake in Many Glacier are more likely to see puffy jackets, scuffed hiking boots, and convertible hiking pants, but appreciation of Glacier’s charms likely remains constant no matter what one wears.
