Can we please just all go back to wearing masks? If not for the sake of COVID, then for that glorious year my kid didn't puke? #MomLife

Sometimes #museum specimens need a little extra TLC - like our #meteorite collection at the @SternbergMuseum. Because of their high iron content they can rust when exposed to oxygen, so each one gets its own microhabitat to reduce contact with air and water. #MuseumMonday

.@FlorissantNPS is known for its exceptionally preserved plant and animal fossils. This fossil shows not just leaves but also the stem and buds of a plant that lived ~34.1 million years ago in Colorado, which helps us understand the 3-dimensional shape of the plant. #FossilFriday

#FossilFriday shout out to all the #museums that support #histology #research. Although termed “destructive analysis”, the truth is there is some information we can ONLY get by cutting open bones and studying how an animal grew. #paleontology #fossils

Bone #histology sheds light on the life history of extinct animals (metabolism, growth rates, ages of sexual maturity, etc) - information we can’t get just from looking at the outside of bones. #FossilFriday #fossils #paleontology #seaturtle #science

Good luck with your research!
What an amazing week!😱 #FossilFriday First, I scanned in the @NHMFossilMammal collections some amazing specimens such as Dinofelis from the Sivalik Hills🇮🇳 Then @PaleoLorax sent me some more scans of specimens from @SternbergMuseum and @PaleoPirlo some other from @FloridaMuseum

Why, oh why, oh why did I pick the “you will not get anything else until you eat one bite of soup” hill to die on? This is why I drink so much. 🍷 🥃 🍸 🍺 #5YearOld #MomLife #WineMe

#TBT to when the @SternbergMuseum #fossil prep lab was 240 sq ft with no water or ventilation. I think I like our new one a little bit better… #paleontology #museum

TFW the bottle of formalin you sketchily abandoned in a classroom three months ago finds its way back to you…

Back in the lab dissecting hawks that were donated from a wildlife rehab centre (under permits). This dissected male sharp shinned hawk demonstrates something I tell people all the time: Accipiter hawks are primarily a flying set of eyeballs.

#WhatIsItWednesday is “borrowed” from the @SternbergMuseum #osteology collection for my @GeoFHSU vertebrate #paleontology class. What is it and why it is #totallyawesome?

On this #ToothyTuesday after the #nationalchampionship, let us appreciate the upturned jaws of the Late Cretaceous #fish Xiphactinus that gives it the nickname “bulldog fish”. #GoDawgs #paleontology #fossils #football
