I did not authorise & do not support anything that would have put animals’ lives ahead of peoples’. My position, which I made clear publicly, was that the UK should prioritise evacuating people. I never discussed the NOWZAD charity or their efforts to evacuate animals with the PM

It’s my understanding that the written responses will not include any surprises. Nothing the Biden Administration hasn’t said to Russia before. So if the Kremlin is hoping for concessions it’s going to be disappointed.
The Biden admin is set to send Russia a written response to concerns Moscow has publicly released & US proposals on a path forward as soon as today, but the response is unlikely to characterize the likelihood of Ukraine joining NATO in the short term. cnn.com/2022/01/26/politics/…

Arrived in Paris with 🇺🇦 delegation to meet with Normandy4 leaders' political advisers. We have finally managed to unlock the format - and it's a strong signal of readiness for a peaceful settlement. Hope for a constructive dialogue in the 🇺🇦 interests.

Pleased to announce that @vintagebooks @TheBodleyHead have reprinted my book with a new postscript, covering the Taliban victory and western evacuation of Kabul. A grim end to this sorry tale.

Can someone explain why the police would need months of investigation to decide on a fixed penalty notice for lockdown violation. Its not like they are preparing for a jury trial. When you get a speeding ticket it comes quickly with a dare to appeal with any mitigating evidence.

Article by @GlenLoutzenhis1 and me on Brexit and Tax argues that Brexit is unlikely to result in the UK slashing taxes or abandoning anti-avoidance legislation because international tax and fiscal pressures are far more important than Brexit in this space.
Our new issue on Brexit has just been released! Read Christopher Adam's introduction to the issue here - academic.oup.com/oxrep/artic… - and see below for a full list of authors and contributions.

It’s remarkable how narcissistic the American media can be, as if everything other countries do is about us and to “test” our president.

This is a really lovely tribute to my former PhD-er from @warstudies Polly Corrigan. She was a great colleague and budding researcher and is sorely missed. #Attention: female scholars or authors writing on women in intelligence and security. @WIIS_Global @womenindefence @WIISUK

The Prime Minister hints at a possible location for any new UK NATO deployment to bolster the alliance's defences in the event of a further Russian invasion of Ukraine. He notes France is looking at Romania, then says: "There is a question about Hungary & what we might do there"

Very good. Better than "concern." The EU doesn't do defense or security, but this is a good sign.
The EU stands by Ukraine. We are firm in our resolve. I am announcing a new financial assistance package, made of emergency loans and grants, to support Ukraine in the medium and long-term. nitter.net/i/broadcasts/1dR…

Almost everyone I’ve met here in Ukraine over the past week has said how grateful they are to the UK for sending a few weapons and training troops. Even a small show of support such as this carries immense symbolic importance amid such tensions
