I ask almost everybody what they worry about. People tend to be really smart about their products and systems and it's always illuminating.

.... To clarify, I'm looking for people interested in full-time work, not consultants. When I said that, I meant people who do that sort of "hello I'm here to help you design better products and systems" work internally. 😁

My dog has tried to snuggle up to me (and the yoga ball which is my chair) so much that I am now sitting *next* to my keyboard. Good thing he's cute.

This is both a social hack and has a related cryptographic construct: the ring signature. In a ring signature scheme, any of the named people might have done the signing, but you can't tell who, just like in this picture you can't find the ringleaders. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ring…
In Japan's Edo Period (1603-1868), when impoverished peasants finally couldn't take it anymore and decided to revolt, they would sign their list of demands with all their names in a big circle. The had specific reasons for doing this... 1/

💯 & for the record, “awareness” is not an outcome, it’s a potential contributor along the way. Ask yourself what tangible behavior is important & what factors need to line up to make it happen. Sometimes awareness isn’t even required if you employ better defaults & usability.
If a piece of security guidance is hard for employees to follow, get curious about why. Often the blockers lie in usability, not awareness. Identify barriers and look for ways to meet them where they’re at.

Diversity makes us a stronger team. This is generally true, but especially in the respect disciplines. I especially urge you to apply if you come from a marginalized community. Oh also, we have a no-being-a-jerk rule. It's awfully hard to get things done otherwise. 😆

Remote roles? Why yes they are! Twitter has awesome offices and you're welcome to work from one (modulo covid), but you're also welcome to be fully remote. Lots of us are. A lot of the team is in California, so we're looking for people whose working hours overlap a fair bit.

Any questions? Just ask. For these SWE/EM roles, your director will be @nitinsinghal123, a kind human with a passion for systems which really work *right*. I'll be your VP/Distinguished Engineer. Between us, we should be able to answer whatever questions you have.

We're also looking for two engineering managers. Management is a service position; we will be particularly looking for people who share that point of view. careers.nitter.net/en/work-… careers.nitter.net/en/work-…

We will be adding a whole bunch of roles for the "we're here to help" team (it needs a solid name) next, largely privacy engineers to work with teams and help them design better/review/do hardening/spelunk in code and systems/be privacy eng experts for incident response.

Product management is hiring as well; DM me about those roles as I don't have a posting to point you at right now. I can pass your resume on to the hiring manager. (She's awesome.)
