Can't quite believe this, but tomorrow marks my two year anniversary of working for @digitalocean, and what a wonderful two years it has been! 💙 That also means that two years ago yesterday I sat my final A-Level exam, which feels like an absolute lifetime ago. 😲

I have never before had so many bots in my DMs offering do to work for me, all using the exact same wording. Definitely all real humans, yup. Remind me never to tweet anything like that last tweet ever again.

Anyone know a vtuber / 3d character artist/rigger that's taking commissions?

Okay, so deploying infrastructure to a documented system for the first time is one level of terrifying, but deploying infrastructure to a completely undocumented system where you're guessing every step needed to deploy is a completely different level of terrifying.

It is now 11pm. I have been awake since 9am. I have eaten two bowls of cereal all day. I still do not feel hungry. Oddly, I've also been pretty productive today, building an entire app for this uni exam, and then getting stuff done at work too.

Averaged a Visual Studio crash (or a required restart of it) every 45 minutes or so doing this exam today... Not sure if Visual Studio is to blame, or Xamarin, but either way a terrible dev experience.

So, Next will happily give you a client-side fallback page for a dynamic route if you set no specific routes in advance. But dare you give it even just one specific route to render in advance for that dynamic route, then no fallback page for you. Why such arbitrary limitations?!

The style of HTML written was the same on the web as it was in emails. Now if emails would like to leave that point in time and catch up, that’d be great.
Tell me how long you’ve been into web development without telling me. I’ll start, I’ve shipped working web apps when browsers had absolutely no debugging or inspection facilities.

Been thinking lots recently about what I actually want to do… still haven’t figured it out fully, but this is where I’m at: - Engineering with community impact, a stable product + side projects - Open source contributions - Engaging with the community - Streaming/podcasting

As I’ve always said, some weird mix of an actual engineering role with a real product, but also doing some developer relations / community management. Trying to find roles that fit this is *so* hard, really realising how lucky I am with my current role.

So I may regret starting to use TikTok in the long term, but all the signing TikToks out there are slowing fixing my sad mood at two in the morning, so I guess that’s a benefit to using it
