Temps early this afternoon are chilly out over the Pacific and in the Strait, there were plenty of 60s farther from all that cold water, and temps were well into the 70s with a few lower 80s in the interior of Western Washington (these reading were just before 2pm).

Valley fog patches burned off quickly but coastal marine stratus seems to be persisting and fog and low clouds are pushing east down the Strait of Juan de Fuca. At 1045am the webcam at Fairchild airport near Port Angeles shows clear skies--but a fog bank was just west of KCLM.

Seattle high today 76°, not close to the record high (89°) but still an unusually warm day for this time of year. Only 13% of days on record in the last week of Sept. have had a high 75°+. In Oct. there has been only 39 days with a high 75°+ in 76 yrs. Also, what a sunset! #wawx

Here's the weak disturbance creating the interesting clouds this afternoon. This could set us up for a sunset that'll be something special. #wawx

A lot of people around Puget Sound are taking notice of the lovely brush strokes in the sky passing over this afternoon. These are cirrus uncinus clouds...also known as "mares' tails". They are very high clouds that foretell a change in the weather...and they are correct! #wawx

Like Bob Dylan sang...the times they are a-changin'. After tomorrow, we likely won't see a reading like this for several months to come. #wawx
