I posted this thread last year on court-packing (aka "court reform"), and I thought I would repost it. Still pretty much where I am on the issues today.
Here's a thread with a few random thoughts about "court packing," that is, changing the size of the Supreme Court. Bonus: My views are somewhere in the middle and are likely to annoy most people.

Query of historical ALPR database is not a 4A "search," W.D. Pa. holds: Although it revealed 106 events w/ 33 unique locations over 4.5 months, Carpenter "does not extend to the ALPR technology at issue in this case." Also, good faith except applies. drive.google.com/file/d/1jO4… #N

Given that the ideological range of the commission members is a good part of what made the commission worth following (at least a little), that doesn't Baude well.

I would prefer the President say that is up to DOJ, not the President, but I'm sympathetic with the idea that prosecutions are appropriate. This notion that complying with subpoenas is optional has to stop.
Asked by @kaitlancollins what his message is to those who refuse subpoenas from the Jan 6 House Committee, Biden says: “I hope that the committee goes after them and holds them accountable.”   Does the President think they should be prosecuted by the DOJ? Biden: “I do, yes.”

Delighted to be back at the War Memorial Opera House tonight for @SFopera's "Fidelio." Great performances, beautifully staged (so much to watch and take in). And new and much-improved seating, too. Thanks @travlingtenor @mjozawa @MatthewShilvock

Good news: Government officials finally interested in the concept of unauthorized access in computer crime laws. Bad news: It's of the "I didn't know you could do this, so it must be hacking" type.
Through a multi-step process, an individual took the records of at least three educators, decoded the HTML source code, and viewed the SSN of those specific educators. We notified the Cole County prosecutor and the Highway Patrol’s Digital Forensic Unit will investigate.

SCOOP - And a wild one… Fraudsters used “deep voice” tech - as in deep fake for speech - to clone a company director’s voice. They then convinced a bank manager to send $35 million to various accounts across the world. AI-powered cybercrime is big. forbes.com/sites/thomasbrews…

"Omega" by @WilkinsImmanuel is one of my favorite new jazz albums, and I'm looking forward to hearing the group live at @SFJAZZ in February. In the meantime, here's a terrific live set from 2019 at the Kennedy Center. Terrific stuff. piped.kavin.rocks/watch?v=ny36tpAf…
