“Is your father a person of faith?” A number of people have asked me this question since he posted news about his pancreatic cancer. Here are some of my reflections. “A Person of Hope”sacredheartuniversity.typepa…
My dear father, #DanielEllsberg, died this morning June 16 at 1:24 a.m., four months after his diagnosis with pancreatic cancer. His family surrounded him as he took his last breath. He had no pain and died peacefully at home. commondreams.org/opinion/dan…
At one point he said, if he were to have a gravestone, that he would say: "He became a part of the anti-Vietnam and anti-nuclear movement." By chance, my interview about him, for release this Father's Day weekend, was posted today. plough.com/en/topics/justice…
Last month @Plough asked to interview me about my dad for Father's Day. I am grateful for this opportunity to talk about his human qualities, his lessons, the ways he has shaped my life. "plough.com/en/topics/justice…
Proud to have published Roger’s “Jesus Symbol of God” in 1999 @OrbisBooks. When he was censured by the Vatican he told me: “Better theologians than me have been disciplined.” “…And become cardinals,” I added.
So excited about this moving conversation with James Finley, author of our new and all-time bestselling @OrbisBooks title, "The Healing Path." One On One Interview | Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers piped.video/live/OMgm9547hQE… via @YouTube
Philosopher Martin Buber died June 13 1965z “the true meaning of love one’s neighbor is not that it is a command from God which we are to fulfill, but that through it and in it we meet God.” My reflections in @GiveUsThisDayLP
Anne Frank, who was born June 12 1929, would be 94 today. The date of her death in 1945 in Bergen-Belsen concentration camp is unknown. My reflection during the pandemic on #MastersofSocialIsolation. “I want to go on living after my death.” That wish was fulfilled.
#MastersofSocialIsolation #10. In a time when Jewish children in Europe were hunted like vermin, Anne Frank did not choose her isolation. With her own and another family she was confined for 2 years in a “secret annex” in Amsterdam, never going out, keeping still all day.
