The word “remarkable” appears almost as often in the Post, averaging every other day since 2016.
If something happens that often, it can’t be all that remarkable.

Does it matter if these beliefs are not true? That top military believed Japan was ready to surrender with assurance that they could keep their Emperor? That Germany chose not to pursue the a-bomb (it would take too long) and Japan never pursued it?
