Today's gospel (Mk 6:53-56): Where Jesus travels, a new creation sweeps over the land: the sick are healed, even by touching the hem of his cloak. In his presence darkness recedes, health prevails, dry land emerges from the flood, the original wholeness of Creation is restored.
Evidence of Christ's presence in the church is not just where the creed is recited but in the presence of goodness, the spread of justice and peace, evidence of healing and wholeness in the community and wider society.
Kacey Mulgraves lived out my nightmare in which I go up to receive my Grammy (Oscar/Tony Award/Nobel Prize) and realize I am not wearing any pants. All in all, I think she adopted the right attitude—just pretend this was a deliberate fashion choice. Well played, Kacey!
Well, it happened again. Amy Klobuchar announced that she is running for President, talking proudly of fighting global warming while standing in a virtual blizzard of snow, ice and freezing temperatures. Bad timing. By the end of her speech she looked like a Snowman(woman)!

They spent the whole night praising God. St Gregory comments: “As John says, ‘God is love,’ and she justly overcame him by the greater strength of her love.” It was their last meeting. Scholastica died 3 days later. In a vision Benedict saw her spirit rise to heaven like a dove.
St Scholastica was the twin sister of St Benedict, father of Western monasticism. They would meet each year midway between their monasteries to talk of spiritual matters. One year, as dusk fell, Scholastica begged B to stay, but he said it was impossible to deviate from the rules
13. “Nature is rude and incomprehensible at first, Be not discouraged, keep on, there are divine things well envelop’d, I swear to you there are divine things more beautiful than words can tell.” — Walt Whitman, Leaves of Grass
For those who wonder—I’m not saying the cardinal’s manifesto contradicts Sermon on the Mount. I’m questioning those who believe the Gospel is improved when translated into a bloodless compendium of abstract truths. As Pope Francis says, ours is not a lab faith but a journey faith
