Today’s gospel: After making breakfast with his wounded hands Jesus confronts Peter, whose betrayal was 2nd only to that of Judas. He does not ask “Who do you say I am?” (this is not a theology test), but “Do you love me?” A profound call to conversion and service.
Joined the pastors of Mt Pleasant Baptist Church, St. Mary Baptist Church, & Greater Union Baptist Church at what remains of Mt Pleasant after an arsonist set fire to these 3 churches. What happened here was evil, but these communities of faith overcame evil with good.

To be one of the 162k people who followed @rachelheldevans on Twitter is to feel the loss of a friend we never met. Her vibrant and generous voice, her capacity for joy, indignation, and hope offered a glimpse of the Beloved Community. She will be so missed!
The world has lost a thoughtful, caring Christian voice and many have lost a beloved friend. Sending love and light to all who mourn the loss of @rachelheldevans today. Eternal rest grant to her, O Lord, and may light perpetual shine upon her.

Juana, abbess of a convent of Franciscan tertiaries, received permission to preach publicly. She said she had been conceived as a man but changed in utero by God to become a woman. She delighted in the female and male aspects of God, a conjunction reflected also in the human soul

(4/6) "What causes conflicts and quarrels among you? Do they not spring from the aggressiveness of your bodily desires? You want something which you cannot have, and so you are bent on murder; you are envious and cannot attain your ambition, and so you quarrel and fight." (4:1-2)
(5/6) "You boast and brag, and all such boasting is wrong. Well then, the man who knows the good he ought to do and does not do it is a sinner. .. You have great possessions. Weep and wail over the miserable fate descending on you." (4:15-5:1)
(6/6) "The wages you never paid to the men who mowed your fields are loud against you and the outcry of the reapers has reached the ears of the Lord of Hosts. You have lived on earth in wanton luxury, fattening yourselves like cattle--and the day for slaughter has come." (5:4-5)
