When you feel helpless in the face of behavior that is killing you, it is a sign of addiction. Requires 12 steps—including admitting yr condition and calling on a higher power. For some, addiction to guns; for others, addiction to $ from NRA.
Mass shooting is what happens when you worship guns.
They are perverted liturgy in a nation unwilling to repent from its addiction. And it’s why conservative de rigueur chants of thoughts and prayers is inevitably accompanied by prescriptions for yet more guns.
We must repent.

We are possibly the only country in the world in which slavery and guns are literally inscribed in our Constitution. Not a coincidence—armed militias to defend vs slave rebellions. It took 13th Amendment to end slavery. Unfinished business with 2nd Amendment.

Oh, are we talking about our Dads? Here is an excellent book about nuclear war. He recalls the day he was given a Pentagon estimate of the # of deaths to follow implementation of existing plans for general nuclear war: 600 million. Turned out to be a massive underestimate.

How about: When you believe America is by rights a “white space” where people of color are tolerated as long as they stay in their place, or when you can proclaim yourself “the least racist person in the country” while demonizing non-white “others,” or RTing racist trolls, etc.
