Dorothy Day on the dropping of the atomic bomb: “Mr Truman was jubilant. True man; what a strange name, come to think of it. We refer to Jesus Christ as true God and true Man. Truman is a true man of his time in that he was jubilant. He was not a son of a God, brother...

75 years ago, on the night before August 6, 1945 the people of Hiroshima slept, not yet knowing it was possible to burn a city with a single bomb. Now we know. But as Baldwin wrote, “People find it very difficult to act on what they know.”

The master was an avid reader of dime novels depicting life in the American “Wild West.” He marveled at the Lawlessness in Dodge and wondered why the president didn’t deploy a division of Cossacks or just burn the city down as was done to defend Moscow. #TolstoysTalesofTrump
There is TREMENDOUS Lawlessness in America’s Liberal Cities. Would be so easy to stop but they have a clouded vision of what should be done. They are indoctrinated with a philosophy which will never work, a philosophy which would destroy America. Portland would be the norm!

Cannot speak highly enough of the Turkish series Yunus Emre on Netflix—about the 13th cen Sufi mystic and poet. The most profound depiction of the spiritual life and what Pope Francis calls a “journey faith” (vs a laboratory faith of black and white rules and syllogistic proofs).
