My talk today at #LACongress, on “Everyday Holiness,” will include reflections on the relation between St Therese and #DorothyDay. (Interesting fact: DD was born the same year as Therese’s death, 1897).

Feast of St Polycarp, bishop of Smyrna. The account of his martyrdom in 155 for refusing to acknowledge that “Caesar is lord,” states that his was “a death conformable to the gospel”—in other words, a mystical reenactment of Christ’s passion. Polycarp was burned at the stake.

By their second meeting the master and the District Commissioner had established an unbreakable bond. The DC gave him a special orb: “Anytime you need me just speak into this and I will be there...I would like you to do us a favor, tho.” #TolstoysTalesofTrump
