Thinking today of Abraham Heschel, who died on Dec 23 1972, and his prophetic message for our time. He escaped Warsaw in 1939 and settled in the US: “I am a brand plucked from the fire, in which my people was burned to death.” Faith entails responsibility to the world.

“To pray is to dream in league with God, to envision His holy visions.” When he marched in Selma with Dr King he said that his “legs were praying.” May his memory be for a blessing. May he inspire us to share the pathos of God and stir us to wonder and holy deeds.
