Venerable Juana de la Cruz (d 5/3/1534), quoting Jesus, in mystical revelation: "All who seek in me a father will find in me a father. And those who seek in me a mother, a husband, a bride, a friend, a neighbor, or a companion will find in me everything they desire."

Juana, abbess of a convent of Franciscan tertiaries, received permission to preach publicly. She said she had been conceived as a man but changed in utero by God to become a woman. She delighted in the female and male aspects of God, a conjunction reflected also in the human soul
