Brother Roger Schutz, founder of Taize, an ecumenical monastic community in France, died on Aug 16 2005–stabbed by a mentally ill woman. Taize had become a spiritual refuge for the world’s youth. Tens of thousands flocked their yearly to imbibe the spirit of prayer and renewal.
