It was in a recent book that came out. Trust me, I detest communists and was more than disposed to detest this person but softened my stance after reading that. Rest assured there was no wishful thinking and there was no way I could have made it up. Will see if I can find.

I am the editor of Dorothy Day’s letters. I would be glad for you to produce these letters.

I risk renewing your detestation for Dorothy Day but I must assure you that any source purporting to quote letters she wrote to Castro is not reliable. I don’t doubt your good faith but will leave it to you to cite your reference.

It was likely your book, I recall seeing it in a bookstore & looking up the Castro part to see if she was as bad as painted. Something in it made me take her off my people-who-should-be-blasted-as-scum list & I've defended her ever since. Perhaps I misread something /1

I sensed she prioritized truth over ideology. It makes me curious now. Have I been defending an indefensible fan of Castro? And cripes, telling little kids in catechism how good she was? If she didn't criticize Castro, gonna put a stop to that.  /2

May I offer a suggestion: if you tend to divide the world into those who agree with you and a list of “those-who-should-be-blasted-as-scum” then the catechism you are teaching little kids is not the gospel of Jesus.
