Communism is a real problem, Robert. 100 million dead. It can't be ignored, any more than National SOCIALISM can be ignored. If this is what Day stood for, she was not someone I can promote. You seem to want to fight rather than find common ground with your fellow Catholics. /1

May I offer a suggestion: if you tend to divide the world into those who agree with you and a list of “those-who-should-be-blasted-as-scum” then the catechism you are teaching little kids is not the gospel of Jesus.

Day did not “stand” for either Communism or Nazism. It does not appear that you wish to know her better before “detesting” her so there is no point in prolonging our exchange.

This piece increased my support for Day actually, as this errant writer suggested she didn't measure up and wasn't quite good enough, but I saw nothing wrong with her views - and plenty of problems with his: americamagazine.org/faith/20…
