Congrats to @Shakespeare_Co on its 100 years in Paris. I wrote an article on this famous hangout for expat writers for NY Daily News when I was a student at @Sorbonne_Univ_ Just was back there & saw my article is in the bookstore's official scrapbook. Viva Shakespeare & Co!

George Whitman used to invite traveling "writers" to sleep in the bookstore and help out. In 1974, my purchase of the complete works of Thomas de Quincey was enough to qualify! 30 years later I returned with my 12-yr-old daughter. George renewed his invitation.
