This year marks the 75th anniversary of the firebombing of Tokyo and the dropping of the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. An exhibit at the Japanese American National Museum in LA @jamuseum entitled Under a Mushrooom Cloud features art by Yuri Mason.

Mason, who survived the bombing of Tokyo, was indelibly marked by her experience. She moved to America and spent her life painting in all styles. But she left behind a remarkable collection of images inspired by the suffering she had witnessed and her passion for peace.

Growing up in Portola Valley my wife was Yuri’s neighbor. Since Yuri’s death in 2008 she has worked to share her friend’s work with the world. myhero.com/Yuri_Mason Yuri Mason would be 100 this year. How grateful we are to @jamuseum for including her witness in this exhibit.
