It is possible (likely?) that Trump will be defeated in Nov. But even if there is a peaceful transfer of power, that will not be the end of Trumpism—a corrosive acid that has been injected into our cultural bloodstream. It will require years of reckoning and national detox.

“But even if there is a peaceful transfer of power” For me that is what I fear most right now, that there will not be a peaceful transfer if Trump loses. He will cry voter fraud and refuse to leave office. How big of a mess would that be?

Nah, Trumpers are all done when Donald goes. He's barely holding them together today with hundreds of millions in campaign spending and using the bully pulpit of the presidency. Their time is soon over, then it's just bitching on Facebook.

Here is the thing ...there will be no peaceful transition, whether it is in 2020 or 2024( hope not) but he will not leave quietly.

It won’t be over. It wasn’t over the day Obama started to lead in the election and won. These people are fanatics ... first hand family knowledge.

Agree. Donald Trump is a mirror of much of America. We have much to do no matter what ends up as his fate. This will take years.

Sadly all Trump accomplished was the manifestation of fear, anger, hatred and prejudice underlying many parts of this country. He appealed to the Dark side and it got him elected. With the election of our first black president we thought it gone, but we were sorely mistaken
