These Founders believed it was consistent with their “Christian” faith to own other humans, rape them (and if they became pregnant, thereby add to their property), sell their children, mutilate them if they tried to escape. Do we imagine our nation has outlived this Sin?
Every “Founder” with a red dot over their face “owned” enslaved Africans. That’s over 75% of them. That’s why Frederick Douglass in 1852 raised the question “ Whose #IndependenceDay are you celebrating?” In Rochester, New York. #FourthofJuly #July4th #happy244th

Trump believes that to point this out, or to take down Confederate statues or change the names of military bases that celebrate those who fought to extend these crimes is to cancel or deny our “history” and “heritage.” Whose history? Whose heritage?

Credit to @arlenparsa for his red dot research.
This is one of the most famous paintings in American history: Declaration of Independence. I decided to put red dots on all the men who held slaves. Next time someone puts them on a pedestal and says we can't question their judgement on guns or whatever, show them this image.

I am writing this still in bed, so bear with me, please. We should not sugar coat the faults and failings of the Founders. Still, they created something powerful. Has not yet reach full potential of the words, of the full meaning. Work in progress, never give up, strife on!
