Not exactly. I think Péguy’s point was that *mystique*—the animating spirit of life and dimension of the heroic—often devolved into mere *politique* where winning and holding power were everything. What was needed was a political morality that retained its sense of spirituality.

I loved him when we studied him in highschool. I remember he said we fo not die from any specific thing but from life itself...spent a lot of time thinking of that
