Not exactly. I think Péguy’s point was that *mystique*—the animating spirit of life and dimension of the heroic—often devolved into mere *politique* where winning and holding power were everything. What was needed was a political morality that retained its sense of spirituality.

Inspired rather than devolved is intriguing. But do you have links to Peguy please? I still have some papers on Dorothy—which I assume can be found online if not in my many stacks of papers, but nothing on Peguy. 🙏🏻
