St Mechtild of Hackeborn, Benedictine mystic, d. Nov 19 1298. She received visions of Christ in which he left his imprint on her heart “like a seal in wax.” She had a great devotion to the humanity of Christ, the “door” by which all creation entered into union with divinity.
