Is that actually so? While I see your broader point, haven't they spoken out against the use of the death penalty in very similar terms?

I would be very interested to know how many times the word “evil” was used in relation to Trump policies.

Probably few if any. Undoubtedly their response to Trump would have been tempered in part by the experience of the last years of Obama & the discriminatory nature of the Affordable Care Act.
