A robin flying into the kitchen door yesterday afternoon, repeated the same hopeless effort every few seconds, despite all efforts to deter him. He continued this for 4 straight hours until dark. And now at dawn he has resumed his quest with even greater persistence. Meaning?

Update: My wife finally opened the door and welcomed him in. The importunate creature stepped up and looked around, then turned and flew away. His work was done. “Knock and the door will be opened.”

We had this same problem. The bird sees his reflection and attacks believing it to be a rival. We solved this by taping newspaper to the lower part of the window so he could no longer see his reflection. Worked like a charm.

Magpie larks are notorious for this behaviour - we had one who would try it two or three times each morning & then try the same experiment the next morning

Thought his reflection was another bird 🤷🏻‍♀️... maybe?
We had an Eastern Blue Jay do this a month ago. First at our back door and then at our window. Then it just went away. Have not seen it since! 😞
