Today is @thichnhathanh's 95th birthday. Almost 50 years ago I knocked on the door of his apartment in a Paris suburb. He welcomed me in and talked with me about mindfulness and the way of peace. That encounter planted many seeds.

20 yrs ago I edited "THICH NHAT HANH: Essential Writings" @OrbisBooks. That day also led to my friendship with Jim Forest, whose "EYES OF COMPASSION: Learning from Thich Nhat Hanh" we published this year. Happy birthday Thay! Present moment, beautiful moment!

I recently found on my bookshelf “TNH on love” and have been rereading it, grateful for this contemporary and authentic spiritual guide who has been leading me most of my life. Happy to walk with him.
