Feast of St Alban, first martyr of Britain (3rd cen). He gave shelter to a fugitive priest who was being pursued by Roman soldiers. Moved by the faith of his guest, he exchanged clothes with the priest and was arrested in his place. He was flogged and beheaded.
A sign of things to come: Last Dec the doctrinal committee of the USCCB issued a guide to evaluating hymns on basis of doctrinal content. An example of a hymn that offends Eucharistic doctrine was “All Are Welcome.”

On June 17 2015 a young white supremacist interrupted a Bible study at "Mother Emanuel" AME Church in Charleston, SC and killed 9 African American members of the church including pastor Clementa Pinckney. "I'll give you something to pray about," he said. Never forget.
