Pope Francis to @JamesMartinSJ “Thinking about your pastoral work, I see that you are continuously looking to imitate this style of God. You are a priest for all men and women, just as God is the Father for all men and women.”
Pope Francis @Pontifex has sent a beautiful letter on the occasion of the Outreach LGBTQ Catholic Ministry Webinar, which happened yesterday, expressing his support for this ministry and encouraging us to imitate God's "style" of "closeness, compassion and tenderness"...
I love this clip of Mike Gravel recounting reading the Pentagon Papers into the Senate record, because of what it teaches about courage. He was not excited, not confident; he was “frightened to death”, scared of going to prison; he was overcome with emotion. And *that* is bravery
Italian priest Lorenzo Milano was tried for insulting the Fatherland by defending conscientious objectors. The world is divided between oppressed and oppressors, he said. “The former are my Fatherland.” He died if leukemia on 6/261967 while his acquittal was under appeal.
Hugely influential in Italy, but I don’t think much about him in English, except about his pedagogical theories. I learned about him from coverage in the Catholic Worker.
We sadly bade farewell today to our editor Paul McMahon, leaving @OrbisBooks to become editorial director at @PAULISTPRESS. We wish him all the best, so grateful for his contributions, his friendship, and his inspiring example.
@OrbisBooks I’ve assigned Neafsey’s A Sacred Voice is Calling for years. Great book. And I personally use quite a few of the religious bio series. That’s a great concept-an extended intro followed by primary writings.

The final episode of #TheWhistleblower, terrific podcast about my dad’s life, documents the power of truth. In this episode, his efforts to expose the Doomsday Machine, and how a hurricane kept him out of prison. (Thank you, Hurricane Doria!)

My sister @MaryEllsberg's moving and inspiring account of her work to document and combat domestic violence against women in Nicaragua. And how that contributed to a world-wide movement. An example of what activism can accomplish. envio.org.ni/articulo/5907
