Carlo Carretto (d. Oct 4, 1988), drawn by the example of Charles de Foucauld, taught that it was possible to live a contemplative life in the midst of the world. The heart of the gospel is to make of ourselves an oasis of love in whatever desert we find ourselves. @OrbisBooks

So teaching, say, Jefferson as a complicated figure who was brilliant but also deeply flawed would be outlawed by this bill? After all that’s a non-heroic description
In one North Carolina county, teachers can be fired for failing to present American founders as "heroes to our culture". There is no off-ramp on anti-CRT legislation highway. It is a one-way ticket to insanity. newsobserver.com/news/local/…

Are you allowed to teach that Confederate leaders were traitors?

Quoted the last paragraph, about Blessed Charles de Foucauld, in my sermon today about embracing the “little ones” and discovering “littleness” within ourselves.

These people will give TRILLIONS of dollars worth of tax cuts to billionaires but complain about giving some peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to children.
Fox anchor Martha Mac: "One of the things that kills me, there's a free lunch program in New Jersey, it's for everyone -- even if you don't need help to send your child's lunch to school. So those kids are all going to grow up thinking school lunch is free!" h/t @Payarm18

From the time my kids were babies I taught them that they had to pay 💰 for every bottle of milk, every graham cracker and bowl of curds. Only to see those life lessons dashed when they got to preschool and discovered they could get a free lunch! 😱
