While classrooms are the most diverse they’ve ever been, the National Center for Education Statistics reports that teachers of color account for 2 percent or less of full-time professors in higher education. @ztkiesch has the details. gma.abc/3lrve45

Building a more inclusive America is going to require building boardrooms that reflect our country's full diversity. Very excited to have @Vista_Equity collaborate with @NACD to prepare more candidates of color to lead businesses nationwide. businesswire.com/news/home/2…

President of @ColoradoCollege, @LSongRichardson and I recently wrote about the need for Black educators, an issue that needs more investment nationally and one that our organizations, CC and @SachsScholars are working to address here in Colorado.
President Richardson recently co-wrote an article with Ben Ralston from @SachsScholars about the shortage of Black teachers in the U.S. CC and the Sach Foundation partnered to address the issue in CO by launching a Teacher Development Program. Read more: 2cc.co/2WjGBRQ

For 90 years, the #Colorado based @SachsScholars has been laser-focused on supporting Black students in the state. Sachs awards millions in scholarships annually—and has seen a surge in interest in the past year. buff.ly/3kE5AbP

From Ashley Cornelius: Being the first Black Poet Laureate in this position is significant, it means open doors and increased opportunities for those to come. It means that my voice as a Black woman now and forever will have a lasting impact. csindy.com/food_and_culture/…

The most common question I'm asked about my work is "in 2021, is it still important to support specifically Black students?" I have a LOT of thoughts on that, and many are captured in this feature on @SachsScholars
Check out this feature about the Sachs Foundation. We appreciate @InsidePhilanthr, not just for sharing our mission, but how we are evolving and why we feel it is so important, including the multiplicative effect our alumni have, such as @RFS_Vista and @Fund2F

The way Haitian asylum seekers are currently being treated is horrific. 17% of Sachs Scholars were born outside of the United States, most of whom have refugee or protected status. Because seeking asylum is a human right.

There is a young Black scholar who needs to hear this truth: Many of the people researching racial inequality are racist and/or anti-Black. You're not imagining any of this. Once you realize this truth so many of the things that frustrate you will make sense. Keep being great.

For those in the Colorado Springs area, if you haven't yet seen Sachs alumnus, Floyd Tunson's work, this is an excellent opportunity.
“Echoes” will fill all three spaces in the gallery, and will be up through Sept. 24. Tunson will give a free artist talk at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. @manitouGOV @ManitouGuide #localartist ow.ly/vaa950Gd5i1
