The one thing I will say about Meat Loaf is that it’s very funny to do a romantic duet and not let the girl sing for the first 7 and a half minutes

I remember Christopher Lee introduced him on SNL by saying, "Ladies and gentlemen, I'd like you to meet … Loaf."

What do people mean by this? With the exception of some loose masking requirements in certain crowded spaces, WTF are they talking about? Restaurants are open. Stores are open. You can go to concerts. The NFL plays to full stadiums. Your friends can come over for dinner.
assuming covid is now endemic, would it be possible to implement a policy whereby anyone who wants to can just go back to normal, while those who don’t feel ready are extended every courtesy and support, *except* the power to police the behavior of the first group

RIP Meat Loaf. As soon as it is safe to do so I will resume honoring you in the traditional way (making my friends mad at karaoke by singing 10-minute songs repurposed from a vampire musical)

songs these days are too short. if a song is worth singing it is worth singing for 12 minutes (I will allow a tight 8 minutes for the radio edit)

Is Sinema ideologically consistent? No. But is she at least in touch with what her constituents want? Also no.

ALT was one of the only regular judges on ANTM who seemed to really care about the contestants. Always iffy to draw a conclusion about someone based on their TV persona, but he always seemed warm and genuine
I loved André Leon Talley’s time as a judge on ANTM. During his first season (S14) and first judging panel, the judges were clowning this contestant on her photo. Meanwhile, he LOVED it. They didn’t get it, but he saw the vision, saving her from being eliminated.

"We never hear about Celebrimbor, don't we love saying his name? It's Sauron this, Sauron that, but never Celebrimbor. But we're bringing back the halls of stone, we're bringing back the kings under the sky, believe me, we'll be hearing a lot more about Celebrimbor."

“audiences for jackson’s trilogy were screaming, crying, shaking and throwing up in their hysterical enthusiasm for more rings, and we are pleased to say that we are ready to deliver!”

NOTE: If you live in an apartment, if you enter your apartment number in the second address line the website doesn't recognize it and treats the building address as a SINGLE household = ERROR. Include your apartment number in the FIRST address line instead to work around it.

This is a picture of a strike against pension cuts *two years ago*. There are various strikes happening now (among French nurses, teachers, mine workers, etc - the French simply love to strike), but to the best of my knowledge there is no *current* general strike over pensions
If the television media wasn't owned by billionaires, you would have seen coverage of yesterday's massive general strike in France against pension cuts. This is what Paris looked like.

If a picture attached to a tweet is not self-authenticating you should just assume the tweeter is lying about it for engagement. It's a grim assumption but you'll be right now often than not.

In ~2009 I met Andre Leon Talley and was so awestruck all I could think to ask was “why do so many fashion people still use fax machines?” He cried “Sketches! Sketches!” and swept away in a floor-length gray opera cape.
