Yes! Reacting with zinc to form blue coloured oxide

Concentrated nitric acid first reacts with the copper(I) oxide coating (red color), hence the bleaching then with the copper plating (bright yellow color) of the coin. Both copper(I) and copper oxidize in copper(II) nitrate (blue color) and nitrogen dioxide (red gas) is released.
