Today we lost 1820 of our citizens. Many of these deaths could have been prevented. I plead with our Secretary of State @MattHancock and @CMO_England to make changes to our community protective shield as follows: (1)
1,820 new #COVID19 deaths in the UK - a new record beating the previous record of 1,610 set yesterday
The US took a moment to remember those they've lost to #coronavirus
On 5 March, a year since the first Briton died, we'll mark #CovidMemorialDay in the UK

“Today, the work begins.” @WhiteHouse
“On the shore, I watched the sails unfurl, flap then billow, & felt my heart billow too. ‘May the wind always be at your back’ I said, & my soft words were carried away on the salty, sea breeze.” (Emerson Warner).

3/. Hungary’s govt has made hostility to LGBT people a central part of its right-wing agenda.
Last month, a key architect of is homophobic agenda, #JózsefSzájer, resigned after he was caught breaching lockdown rules to take part in a 25-man gay orgy in Belgium.
Peak hypocrisy!
“Oh...it was all just a bad dream. I had the most absurd nightmare,Donald #Trump was President & #Bannon, #StephenMiller & Ivanka, were his chief advisors & they put a bet on how far they could drive open cracks in society & hollow out our democracy.”
In his new book, ‘Mindf*ck’, Cambridge Analytica whistleblower @chrisinsilico describes how he built a “psychological warfare tool” for Steve Bannon, designed to use big data & social media to drive open cracks in societies & hollow out democracies.
#Trump has pardoned Steve Bannon who was charged with defrauding Trump’s own base! #BREAKING
In 2017, #Bannon was filmed asking @Nigel_Farage to be part of a "convening authority" to "knit together a populist nationalist movement around the world".👇
That’s what he’s created.
"If you're interested, & I'll fund it somehow, I think you're the perfect guy, what we'd like to do is help knit together a populist nationalist movement throughout the world."

The rituals of grief may be gone but the grief remains
We’re not shown or taught how to deal with loss: our own or other people's
We bottle up grief & are surprised to find ourselves weeping at the death of an elephant on a TV wildlife show
Yet our own grief goes unprocessed.
“To heal, we must remember. It’s hard sometimes to remember. But that’s how we heal. It’s important to do that as a nation.” @JoeBiden
Collective grief is powerful
It makes the weight of loss feel lighter. #CovidMemorialDay#COVID19#coronavirus#COVID
“I had no idea how much that was needed.”
Because we bury grief
& avoid grief
& are even made to feel other people’s awkwardness at our grief
We can forget how important grieving is
When we allow ourselves to grieve, we feel better for it
We feel lighter.

The importance of public grief: @StefSimanowitz writes for @amnesty. Grief at loss is a key part of healing from it, too: "By gradually releasing the burden of unexpressed grief, we slowly move out of the past", is a powerful lesson I'm learning over my family-of-origin trauma.
