Like Mr Ellsberg eloquently stated in his witness testimony, Julian believes "in open government and democracy," and that it is his political belief in transparency, antagonising a US government that has increasingly become more secretive, that has spurred this prosecution.

Again, it bears repeating, that while our attention shifts from the US election to Covid-19, from political spats in Downing Street to whatever else it may be, Julian Assange remains in a maximum-security cell in the outskirts of London for the crime of pursuing real journalism.

The prosecution, on behalf of the US government, is to deliver their closing submissions on November 20 and I hope to publish this document as soon as its available. As most will know, District Judge Vanessa Baraitser will deliver her ruling at the Old Bailey on January 4.
