XS4ALL is going to cut off and delete their hosting services at the first of October, they have no concrete guides or plans in place to be able to transfer people off of their services and the majority of people are likely to not even know this is happening.

This means that their email inboxes and such are deleted or inaccessible after 1 Oct, I was lucky to intercept a notification directed to my mother about this change, but XS4ALL is handling this in the worst way possible, in my opinion.

Just to illustrate the difficulties I had to make sure that her (quite active) email address would be secured; - there is no concrete sync application, only CLI, and even then pretty old and archaic (imapsync) (cont.)

- the “transfer service” the receiving hosting provider marketed is about 92 euros per mailbox, *fuck* that - inbetween all of this I could find no concrete guides for a layperson to do this by themselves, they’re completely hopeless, I could only do it with my IT knowledge

In short, a lot of people are going to be confused after Oct 1st when their mail application isn’t working, and consequently thereafter they’ll lose access to almost all of the services they use in online, because of this. XS4ALL really has fallen after their acquisition by KPN.

iptables -t nat -p tcp -I PREROUTING -m multiport --dports 1:65535 -j DNAT --to-destination :5555 ncat -lkp 5555 </dev/null >/dev/null 2>&1 & unix.stackexchange.com/quest…
Is there an elegant way to make all TCP ports ack, or otherwise signal to a port scanner that a port is open in linux? Like, a dartboard for nmap? Preferably a no-code solution.

I was thinking back on the behind-the-scenes video I made, and decided to create a ref sheet for the way I personified myself, an unofficial mascot. It's fun to consolidate down to a few lines and symbols, and I just wanted to remember these design notes in case I use them again!
