It suddenly struck me today (belatedly) that if you are older or have a disability or are immunocompromised, the rest of society has decided you don't matter and are expendable in the era of COVID-19. Then it struck me that this how people with disabilities must have always felt.

"Science has defanged Covid, time to get on with our lives" This, by usually reasonable Devi Sridhar, is a huge worry because it is almost entirely disconnected from the current reality that the pandemic is far from over and buys into a HUGE fallacy 馃У theguardian.com/commentisfre鈥

And Javid wants to be the next prime minister when Johnson is bootedfrom power over his handling of the covid crisis and Brexit and his lies

This pure political theatre .... maybe you should read up on how the government held numerous wineand cheese parties in Downing Street during lockdown while people were banned from saying final farewells to loved ones... this is the context for the 鈥榠t鈥檚 all fine now鈥 rhetoric

More <5s have been admitted with Covid in the *last month* (2016) than *all of 2020* (1633). The increase is driven by babies. Most may only stay a day or two - but it's hospital & they're sick & feeling miserable. It's not a trip to the park. How have we decided this is fine?
The Covid rate for 5-9 year olds has gone over 2000 per 100K. (The actual rate of infection is several times higher, based on the ONS survey). The growth in cases shows no sign of slowing (currently doubling every 8 days), having accelerated soon after schools went back in Jan.

I think this one could run and run. I'm not passing judgement on whether or not the latest unwinding of Covid restrictions is broadly justified (regardless of motivation), but the position of clinically extremely vulnerable people has been brushed aside inews.co.uk/news/government-鈥
I will continue to wear a mask because it protects others, helps our overstretched NHS, limits the spread of Covid and I don鈥檛 believe in people losing their lives to save Boris Johnson鈥檚 arse.

I鈥檓 saying that people are no longer required to get tested, there鈥檚 no more track and trace and no requirement to self-isolate if infected ... which means figures aren鈥檛 accurate. There鈥檚 also a political agenda at play ...

Cases are down because they鈥檙e no longer testing. Covid is rampant and sane people in the UK are despairing and scared...

The UK has literally given up ... for political reasons. Under siege prime minister Boris Johnson is lifting all restrictions as distraction from the challenge to his leadership and his lies People are still getting covid and dying in large numbers and hospitals are overwhelmed.

But you haven鈥檛 delivered voting rights legislation and build back better... two vital steps needed to protect our country and provide for its citizens... and two things you were elected to do and you promised to do.

Yeah... and Biden said he 'likes' McConnell..... so go figure.

Serious question - please answer: What is the risk of catching Omicron from walking outside if keeping a distance from people and/or masking up? Is walking a dog around a park or neighborhood relatively safe from the airborne virus?
