The National Cyber Force will be run by the Ministry of Defence, in partnership with GCHQ, the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) and the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory in Porton Down. It is part of Strategic Command headed by General Sir Patrick Sanders (below)
Manchester, which hosts @GCHQ's northern office, Heron House, (below) was also a contender for the headquarters of the National Cyber Force. Samlesbury had the advantage of building space, seclusion, the presence of BAE Systems military aircraft division.
