I don't think this framing reflects the nature of the problem. But also as a veteran procrastinator myself, you do eventually have to *start* the project, or it doesn't get finished. Ever.

And now I have to choose between the shiny shiny megacorp offering, or something dull but open that costs half as much. Why do I still find this choice hard?

Not sure this really needs the "Latin" qualifier.
In Latin America, the upper classes are less committed to democracy than any other social class. via @TheEconomist #latinobarometro economist.com/the-americas/l…

I was stoned, in the basement of that startup house in Glendale, between jobs, watching the spectacle of Indecision 2000 on The Daily Show. Who knew?
You ever think about how if the 2000 election had actually been free and fair, we coulda had a whole different planet right now? And then about how elections have becomes a whole lot less free and fair since then?

if you update hours on Yelp but not Google your new hours can get overwritten by a bad updating process, & b/c updates can be cached, they can't update their hours, b/c the 3 big services (Google, Yelp, Facebook) keep undoing the updates with cached data scraped from each other.

It is also possible to get *less* than nothing out of a negotiation.
Weakening the Clean Electricity Performance Program carbon emissions factor - while *also* increasing subsidies for carbon capture at coal plants - is not climate policy. It would be a blatant subsidy for the coal industry and risks keeping uneconomic coal plants running.

"Kelley argues that Rosenblum’s claims of defamation are meritless because the defendants used Rosenblum’s own words in their posts and the defendant’s comments represented opinions, not statements of fact."
Steve Rosenblum’s chilling lawsuit targets community leaders and volunteers who have strong records of advocating for equity and inclusion in Boulder. Until two weeks ago, I was one of them. It was a huge disruption to my personal and work life. coloradonewsline.com/2021/10…

Maybe I'll eat a weed cookie and watch a *totally* fanciful TV show about a civilization that implodes and the lone outpost on the edge of the galaxy that tries to ensure continuity through a dark age lasting thousands of years.
