By relying on AWS Graviton2-powered Amazon EC2 instances, @F1 has already lowered the cost of running its CFD workloads by 30 percent and anticipates even more savings. “We think our cost savings could grow to 40 percent,” says Pat Symonds, CTO, Formula 1. aws.amazon.com/solutions/cas…

Loving how this post ⬇️ triggers all the memories of the late 1990s. "RedHat 5.0", "SuSE 10.1". AIX and HP/UX. Good times. msrc-blog.microsoft.com/2021…

Should I open a pull request to fix the README? I'm pretty sure that by "RedHat 5.0" they don't mean "Red Hat Linux 5.0", but rather "Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5"... github.com/microsoft/SCXcore…

I ❤️ @PostgreSQL. Ran the crawler on my laptop. Ran some PDF tools on an EC2 instance. Backed up and restored on #AWSAurora. And, the join works! #PDFDays

It was delightful to hear @maddoghall's @linuxplumbers talk this morning about Free Software (aka #OpenSource), putting control back in the hands of software users, and welcoming all users of FOSS—of any shape and size—so long as they honor the obligations of the licenses.

But... But I was told that it is the Open Source that is the supply chain risk, Kevin.
Replying to @GossiTheDog
- On the MSRC page and CVE announcement, it was then clear MS hadn't repackaged their own dependencies on it or patched cust. systems. MS basically became their own supply chain risk.

What I want to know is... what happens when @colmmacc picks up the red phone in his office? From his livestream titled "AWS and Confidential Computing, Nitro, and Nitro Enclaves" twitch.tv/videos/1151661640

Would be even funnier if it said things like "Play Services / AOSP" instead of "Android" after the first occurrence. 😏
I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Android, is in fact, Play Services/Android, or as I've recently taken to calling it, Play Services plus Android. Android is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully func

I'm very happy that I was able to reinvest some of the value created through my work at Amazon into my local community. I needed better Internet for work-from-home and was able to pay to extend our public utility's middle-mile network farther into my community. #KPUD fiber FTW.
More than 1,000 U.S. communities have built their own broadband networks, according to new data from my organization, @ILSR. Great coverage in @VICE of why more places are doing this, plus the sometimes surprising geography of where it’s happening. vice.com/en/article/7kv3ge/n…

Extending fiber farther into the community doesn't come cheap. A lot of neighborhoods are coming together to share the cost, and financing it through liens on their properties. I am happy my family is able to invest in our community in a different way. kitsapsun.com/story/news/202…

I should also give a shout out to AS16713, a.k.a. @noa__net, which is the public-benefit wholesale telecommunications organization that provides services for multiple community-owned and locally owned and operated businesses across Washington State.
