I’ve been in bitcoin since 2013 and I don’t know a single person who is pro Worldcoin. Everyone just consistently ignores prior research and experience in this industry.

In 2017 I developed a self sovereign identity solution, using locally stored attributes, verified using homomorphic encryption anchored to a blockchain. I vetted the concept with more experienced engineers and identity people It was flawed, so I didn’t do it. I didn’t yolo it.

Time and again, people build products, print money with their new token, they exit, and the token crashes. And then come with the “lessons learned”. They either didn’t do the research, or ignored it when people told them it wouldn’t work. This is totally unethical.

Funnily enough the only project I know of that has followed an ethical approach was Basis, that I believe returned the money when they worked out it wasn’t going to work. Then the guy goes and builds BitClout and destroys that bit of credibility

Never thought this would be a "some personal news" type of nym, but a one-two punch of "some personal news": 1) Excited to be joining Unchained Capital as VP of Engineering! If you're ready to take the plunge and join a Bitcoin-only startup, DM me, we're hiring! @unchainedcap

Don’t read too much into this. Everything is insane here

The "underlying technology" doesn't matter. The problem solved does. Comparing Novi to Bitcoin doesn't make sense. They're different products. Compare it to PayPal. Hating NFTs because they are "built on blockchain" also doesn't make sense. They do solve an emotional problem.

If someone builds a product that uses Solana or Ethereum or freaking Tron to solve a problem, why do I care what platform they use? It's an architectural decision. The 'blockchain' won't be a differentiator, but if they want to make a strange technical decision, why would I care?

I do think it's strange that still, after so many years, people still buy into product pitches because something specifically is "crypto" or "built on X". Then again, few people were around during the ICO insanity, and even fewer during the Dotcom boom. We've seen how this ends.

“Free speech” more often seems to be used by people who want to defend a certain viewpoint but know it would be unpalatable to do so. I can’t remember having seen a self proclaimed “free speech defender” speak up about sex workers being censored.
