Grateful to @ezraklein for this constructive conversation about the next evolution of the web. I'm an optimist about where this is headed but it's important for anyone building in this space to engage with thoughtful people about the risks as well. nytimes.com/2021/10/15/opini…

Today we're launching our Digital Asset Policy Proposal (dApp) which we hope will help chart a course for clear regulation of cryptocurrency and web 3.0 in the US. It's critical to bring clarity to this space and ensure America remains a financial leader. github.com/coinbase/digital-…

“Ethereum, the most commonly used protocol for web3 applications, will soon use an energy-efficient proof-of-stake (PoS) consensus mechanism”- the text right next to the chart quoted.
TIL, according to @a16z, Ethereum launched in 2015 as a proof of stake network 🤷‍♂️.

10k is the most common number of NFT that get minted for a collection. Dunbar number is a suggested cognitive limit to the number of people with whom one can maintain stable social relationships (with approx 150 individuals in real life) So, 10k is Dunbar number for internet.

10k in a collection means some fraction of that as owners and some fraction of that in the Discord. The internet version of the Dunbar number.
