This is *the* most popular thing in the Democratic agenda. There are a million fussy details you can argue over, but it’s suicidal if moderates not to get on board with some form.
NEW POLL from @CAPAction & @DataProgress: 73% of voters (and 6 in 10 R's!) support letting Medicare negotiate lower drug prices. @danpfeiffer on why @RepScottPeters, @RepKathleenRice, and @RepSchrader voting against this is terrible policy and politics: messagebox.substack.com/p/th…

And despite the incredible level of illness caused by that malevolent cabal, my staff and I continue to offer comfort, oxygen, decadron, monoclonal antibodies, and occasionally a plastic tube to stave off suffering and death against the headwinds of disinformation and distrust.

.@chrislhayes looks at reconciliation through the lens of The Price is Right: "No one is talking about the prizes or how good they are. No one is talking about the actual provisions in the bill—The price tag of a thing tells you nothing about the value of the thing."

Montana covers more square miles than Germany. There are 83 million people in Germany. There are 1 million people in Montana. 1.7 million people applied for asylum in Germany between 2015 and 2019. That's more than the entire population of Montana.
Today I learned that 75 refugees from Afghanistan will be arriving in Montana. I strongly oppose the resettlement of these Afghan nationals in Montana.

Reading the latest statement from a certain former president praising Jan. 6 rioters got me thinking about @chrislhayes' 2018 op-ed on what "law and order" means.

Yes! Trust all the way down.
Replying to @chrislhayes
It's "trust" even for Covid-19 experts like me. I trust the vaccine bc I trust that the researchers did the trials, and the journal published an accurate report, and the govt gave me the same vaccine as the trials. Near impossible for me to verify. Just trust all the way down.

It is far easier and more enjoyable and more attentionally rewarding to have Discourse Fights than it is to think hard about how we can stop the daily slaughter of the plague itself.

I think I've come to believe that even if the Covid death toll was *ten times* what it currently is, the politics of all of it wouldn't be appreciably different.

Agree wholeheartedly with this. Chapter four of Twilight of the Elites is about precisely this dynamic. That trust is actually prior to knowledge of the world. We "know" things because we learn them from sources we trust.
Replying to @ZeeshanAleem
A tiny, tiny, tiny fraction of people "get" the science. In practice the act of trusting the science reflects trust in the arbiters of who say what's true and what isn't true, what is safe, and what isn't safe.

I’ve heard dumb rationales for gerrymandering before, but none come anywhere close to this. Ohio Republicans believe that because they’ve won 81% of statewide elections in the past decade (averaging 54% support) they deserve 81% of state legislative seats.
Replying to @AndrewJTobias
Here is the official statement from Republicans that seems to argue they would be legally justified to award themselves up to 81% of Ohio’s state legislative seats.

#Bears QB Andy Dalton earned a 58.1 passing grade from PFF in Week 1, which ranked 31st among graded players. All of the analytics tell the same story. Dalton wasn't good. The fact his performance is being sold as 'fine' is because the Bears are used to WORSE qb play.
