It's incredibly concerning that the Govt is taking so little action to protect public against Covid, as @CNagpaul has told Sky News

NHS Confederation has called for immediate implementation of Plan B measures in England - including widespread mask wearing and more working from home: “to keep people well and avoid the NHS from becoming overwhelmed this winter.”

BRAZIL Woah ‼️ A Brazilian congressional panel is set to recommend mass homicide charges against Bolsonaro, saying he intentionally let Covid rip through the country and kill hundreds of thousands in a failed bid to achieve herd immunity & revive economy. nytimes.com/2021/10/19/world…

Hasn't received a lot of news coverage but constituents now being able to petition to recall their MP if they're suspended for bullying, harassment or abuse is a *huge* step forward for safety in politics. A big win for @WEP_UK and others who worked tirelessly to make this happen

2m people become eligible for booster jab each week, but only 1.3m a week being administered. Backlog growing fast & waning immunity a big danger. Instead of faffing around about Imperial measurements & rows with EU over arcane ECJ issue, how about Johnson addresses this?

In Sept @IndependentSage released our 9 point Winter Plan. Let's just say it's a bit more impactful than Government's Plan B. We hadn't envisaged booster shots and teenage vaccinations falling so far behind tho' - that needs to be addressed urgently now independentsage.org/wp-conte…

It's been three months since freedom day on 19 July. Since then, thirteen thousand, five hundred and eight souls have been lost to Covid, RIP. And around three thousand kids have been hospitalised with Covid, in England alone. Some anniversary. Libertarianism is lethal.

Little bit of polling not getting any news found by Chris here. Lots of #bregret out there it seems
Buried in today's Mail on Sunday polling showing comparisons between Johnson and Starmer, is this poll on EU membership! As the public, even the pro Brexit Mail readers, increasingly decide we made a mistake, it will be harder for this Brexit Government to maintain its poll lead.

Effective triage reduces healthcare burden. TRIAGE PROTECTS PATIENT AND NHS! Waiting for patients to deteriorate and then treat them is neither effective nor efficient. More so for COVID-19, with a wide symptom profile and 'silent hypoxia'. In the UK we have NO triage

CAPACITY The UK REDUCED total basic care capacity prior to the pandemic by 8%. The attempt to develop ICU field hospitals failed due to lack of staff. The UK remains with less beds than before the pandemic.

The Immensa scandal continues to astound me. Details not yet in the public domain will doubtless come out eventually. It’s by some distance the worst ****-up this year, and that’s against some stiff competition.

When experts push back on legislation, regulation or general policy change, cautioning (mostly) legitimately that it would cause more harm, they are (mostly) genuine, because they live in the nuances (mostly) detached or at best distant from the harm of status quo.

I have *zero* confidence in Jenny Harries or anyone in UKHSA leading this investigation. We need a completely independent enquiry now - let's remember Immensa was awarded a contract without tender, despite its lack of relevant expertise. @GoodLawProject

I honestly don't know what to say. So Immensa was not accredited, and Jenny Harries, UKHSA and DHSC have both publicly said it was 'fully accredited'? What's going on here? Lives have almost certainly been lost because of this & govt officials are misleading the public.
It very strange that the DHSC have seemingly been trying to cover for the Immensa laboratory, by claiming that they are fully accredited when in fact the UKAS is flatly denies this. theguardian.com/world/2021/o…

Nearly 50,000 cases today. There have only been 16 days throughout the whole pandemic when we have reported higher case numbers. Just looking at the situation in our European neighbours makes it abundantly clear that it didn’t have to be this way.
