I believe the traditional opening to these sorts of Tweet threads is "Some personal news." So . . . some personal news. After almost 13 years – technically, 12 years and 364 days – this Friday, October 22nd, will be my last day at Twitter. (1/6)

Saying this is a difficult decision would be an understatement. That said, it’s also the right decision. Right now, I need (and want!) to focus my time and attention on my family; equally, @twittersafety needs (and deserves!) someone who can focus on leading them. (2/6)

I also want to mention how lucky I am to have worked under both @amac & @vijaya. Both were tremendous thought partners on incredibly tough, murky issues, and I deeply appreciate their unfaltering support and belief in me (and in T&S!). (4/6)

While it’s difficult for me to leave when it feels like there’s still so much more to do, I know that @twittersafety is in good hands until the next T&S VP is hired, thanks to my fantastic staff and the global Trust & Safety leadership team. (5/6)

Trust & safety is bigger than any one company, & I've seen first-hand the benefits of knowledge-sharing + collaboration on tough problems. @DTSPartnership is an important step toward documenting & expanding transparency around best practices for tackling trust & safety issues.
Today, leading tech companies are announcing the Digital Trust & Safety Partnership, a new initiative to promote a safer and more trustworthy internet. We’re looking forward to working with other stakeholders/specialists in trust & safety. Learn more: dtspartnership.org/

More to come, but some initial info to kick off the conversation here. 👇

Removing harmful content from recommendations and amplification surfaces works. It takes the wind out of the sails of how this content propagates across Twitter. These are encouraging results, and we're going to continue to invest in building out our approach.

In July, we began removing Tweets associated with QAnon from Trends and recommendations and not highlighting them in conversations and Search. Impressions on this content dropped by more than 50%, decreasing the amount of unhealthy and harmful content on timelines. (2/3)

We’ve been clear that we will take strong enforcement action on behavior that has the potential to lead to offline harm. In line with this approach, this week we are taking further action on so-called ‘QAnon’ activity across the service.
